Special Precautions

Exclude presence of other joint conditions/diseases. Closely monitor blood glucose levels in patients w/ higher HbA1c levels or taking insulin. Severe hepatic or renal insufficiency. Avoid use during 1st trimester of pregnancy. Lactation. Avoid use in childn.

Peripheral oedema, tachycardia; skin reactions eg, erythema, pruritus.

Drug Interactions

Impaired insulin secretion. Increased insulin resistance. Affected glucose tolerance. Reduced antidiabetic effects of acarbose, acetohexamide, chlorpropamide, glipizide, glyburide, metformin, miglitol, pioglitazone, repaglinide, rosiglitazone, glimepiride, tolbutamide, troglitazone. Reduced effectiveness of doxorubicin, etoposide, teniposide. Potentiated anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Formed complexes w/ chitosan.
